Enhancing Efficiency and Coverage in the Emergency Department
We’re delighted to announce that Te Whatu Ora – Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) is expanding its use of Core Schedule, with the Emergency Department (ED) Clerical team now coming on board.
This expansion builds on the success of Core Schedule within ADHB, extending its benefits to the clerical staff who play a vital role in supporting emergency services. The ED Clerical team is at the frontline of patient flow and service coordination, and efficient rostering is critical to keeping operations running smoothly—especially in a fast-paced, high-demand environment like the ED.
Why This Matters
By introducing Core Schedule to the ED Clerical team, ADHB is taking steps to:
- Improve Workflow – Streamlined rostering ensures schedules are accurate, accessible, and easy to manage in real time.
- Optimise Coverage – Staff availability is matched with demand to prevent gaps and ensure consistent support for clinical teams.
- Strengthen Communication – Instant notifications keep everyone informed of roster changes, helping the team respond quickly to shifting priorities.
- Boost Administrative Efficiency – Automating manual scheduling frees up time, allowing clerical staff to focus on higher-value tasks and patient-facing work.
Expected Outcomes
The introduction of Core Schedule for the ED Clerical team is expected to:
- Reduce administrative workload for managers.
- Improve shift fill rates and coverage.
- Enhance team satisfaction through greater clarity and transparency in scheduling.
- Support the ED’s ability to deliver timely, high-quality care to patients.
We look forward to collaborating with the ED Clerical team, ensuring they experience the same time-saving benefits and operational improvements already seen in other ADHB departments.
Welcome aboard, ED Clerical—we’re excited to work with you!
